Mum Of Four Who Refused To Walk Away From An 'Abusive Marriage' Dies

A Nigerian Mum of four has died after allegedly being subjected to domestic violence for years, Reports.

A Facebook User, Amarachi Iwuala, who shared the sad story, As Sighted By, alleged that the husband of the deceased over the years subjected her to domestic abuse. She said the husband one time, allegedly beat the wife until she became unconscious.

Amarachi said when advised to leave her marriage, the deceased who was nursing a seven-month-old baby, said she would walk away when her children were grown as they were still little. She said the mother of the deceased even asked her to walk away from the marriage, but she also refused.

Posting On Facebook, Amarachi Wrote.

‘’Another woman gone.

She was married to a man who was violent towards her. Not just violent, he would lock doors and windows, raise the music volume, and then start beating her, so that help wouldn't come for her.

One day he beat her till she was unconscious, the whole compound joined in rushing her to the hospital. After treatment, she came back to the same house.

People advised her to leave, she said her children were still little, and she wanted them to grow a bit before she left. She wanted them to grow yet she was giving birth to more. She had four children, the last one is just 7 months old.

Two weeks ago, an old woman living in their compound called this lady's mother, asking her to come take her daughter if they still want her alive. The mother replied that the lady said she was not leaving.

This is why it's good to have some stubborn person as a mother. Even if she doesn't want to leave, use vawulence and bring her out by force. O dighi apu àra.

Back to the story. Two days ago, that is Thursday 2nd November 2023, they woke up in the morning to hear the man béating the woman as usual.

After the béating, normal life continued. They said that night, the lady went about her normal chores, she stayed up till 11pm wasting and hanging cloths. Neighbors saw her.

They all woke up yesterday morning only to hear that the lady is déad. How?

The husband is saying he slept in the sitting room while she slept in the bedroom, that he only entered the room in the morning and found her dead.

Neighbors said her bed was soaked with water though, and there's still no explanation for that.

The husband is saying she should be buried immediately as he doesn't have money to pay mortuary bills.

The sad part, her father heard the news and had a heart attack, she was his only daughter. He was rushed to hospital, but news has it that he didn't make it.

Her 7month old baby cried the whole day and refused to eat every food that was offered her, she was looking for breast milk. She cried till she started running temperature.

See how many lives have been affected by her choices.

Four children rendered motherless. Only God knows what their fate will be, they'll probably be shared amongst relatives who may/may not treat them well.

I know all these because we have a mutual friend who was at their place yesterday to get first hand info. She was crying bitterly on phone while speaking to me, I told her to stop crying, the lady chose this.

The husband cannot even be held responsible. Police came, asked him questions and left.

We keep writing daily for women to learn, but some are determined to waste their lives.

Someone in an abûsive marriage will read this post and say "it's not my portion", and keep staying in the marriage.

Like I'll always say, we can't help everybody. Keep staying, keep waiting for your children to grow up, keep thinking of what society will say, keep thinking of how you'll survive, keep thinking if you'll find another man, keep thinking the children need a father, keep hoping he'll change. Just keep at it, since you have no value for the life you have.''

Father Defiles 12-year-old Daughter

A police Prosecution Witness Inspector, Glory Eyo, on Monday, narrated to the Ikeja sexual offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos how a father, Abdullah Abiodun, allegedly defiled his 12-year-old daughter.

Eyo who was led in evidence by the state prosecuting counsel, Olushola Sholeye, told the court that the minor was defiled by her father in the Badagry area of the state.

The witness also told Justice Abiola Soladoye that it was the defendant’s son, Usman (a younger brother to the victim), who caught his father in the act and raised the alarm.

She said, “Abiodun was at home with his daughter (the victim), his younger brother, and a visitor who came to visit.”

“After the visitor left, Usman was chased out by his father, and the defendant told him to leave the house. When he left, Abiodun removed his daughter’s pants, held her neck, and tried to insert his penis in her private parts. It was in the process of doing it that the daughter screamed. Her brother heard the noise and entered the house where he saw his father on top of his sister.

“The defendant tried to chase Usman away and then the victim ran out and reported to their Neighbour that her father was trying to have sexual intercourse with her.

“The neighbor then reported the case to the Baale, before it was reported to the Lagos State Police Badagry Division,” she said.

Consequently, Justice Abiola Soladoye adjourned the case till December 16, 2023, for continuation of trial.

The defendant was arraigned on June 3, 2021, on a count of unlawful defilement of a child preferred against him by the state.

He was alleged to have committed the offense at their residence in the Badagry area of the state.

According to the prosecutor, the offense committed contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

18-Year-Old TV Anchor Drugged, Gang-Raped In Primary School Classroom In Niger

young Nigerian television personality was sexually brutalized by criminals shortly after concluding a shift over the weekend.

The 18-year-old woman, attached to a private station in Lapai, Niger State, was on her way home on Saturday when she received a call asking her to show up at Kobo Primary School in the community, about 150 kilometers west of the Nigerian capital Abuja, police said.

Upon arrival, the assailants promptly drugged and took turns to rape her in one of the school’s classrooms, police spokesman Abiodun Wasiu, told The Gazette on Tuesday morning. Her phone was also collected and searched by the assaulters, and Nigerian early and middle schools are closed on weekends.

Usman Buda: Mob Beats Butcher To Death Over Alleged Blasphemy In Sokoto State

A butcher identified as Usman Buda has been killed in Sokoto, Northwest Nigeria for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.

According to Daily Trust, the butcher allegedly made the comment during an argument with another trader at the Sokoto main Abattoir around 8 am on Sunday.

“Our leaders made a fruitless attempt to save him but they could not contain the crowd. They initially rescued him and hid him before they were overpowered.

“He was beaten to death by his fellow butchers. His corpse was later taken away by the police,” an eyewitness told Daily Trust.

Another account said some of Buda’s closest business partners who attempted to rescue him sustained injuries and “are currently receiving treatment at the hospital”.

The deceased reportedly hailed from Tambuwal local government area but resided at Gidan Igwe in Sokoto North local government area.

He sold cow entrails at the Sokoto Fish and Vegetables Market.

One of his neighbors identified as Malam Yusuf described his death as painful.

“Usman is my immediate neighbor. He is very religious; in fact, he belonged to Izala sect. We prayed and attended Tafsir together at primary board quarters. There is no way he could make such a statement against the Holy Prophet.

“There must be a reason behind his murder because he is very popular in his business of selling cow entrails and was envied by many of his colleagues,” he said.

A trader who sells perishable goods at Kasuwan Dankure meat and vegetable market whose stand was next to that of Buda also expressed shock over the tragic incident.

“I have not been myself since I heard about what happened. I know Usman liked arguments on religious issues but I didn’t hear him even for once using derogatory remarks against the Prophet’s companions,” he said

However, the specific statement made by Buda which was considered to be blasphemous was not stated in the report.

Meanwhile, the state police command has confirmed the mob killing.

The command said it received a distress call at about 9:20 am that one Usman Buda of Gwandu local government area, a “butcher at Sokoto Abattoir allegedly blasphemed the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and as a result, he was mobbed and attacked”.

“Upon receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, Area Commander Metro and DPO Kwanni led a team of policemen and all other operational commanders to the scene.

“On arrival, the mob escaped the scene and left the victim unconscious where he was rescued and taken to Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital Sokoto (UDUTH) for treatment and was later confirmed dead,” a statement signed by the spokesperson for the police command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’I, said.

“Meanwhile, Investigation is on to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book,” it added

In May 2022, SaharaReporters reported how a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, Deborah Samuel, was burnt to death by her colleagues for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

She was beaten and killed by Muslim students who dragged her out of her hostel.

Meanwhile, her gruesome murder was connected to a voice note the deceased sent to her class WhatsApp group.

According to a Twitter link as seen by SaharaReporters, the female student was said to have sent a voice note, protesting against the incessant sending of ‘unnecessary messages’ to the group by her mates.

Her death attracted the outrage of many Nigerians including the Sultan of Sokoto State, who condemned the unwarranted attack and called on the police to investigate and arrest the perpetrators.

However, over a year after her gruesome murder, the police have yet to arrest any of her killers.
