- Declare that the attention you are receiving is unwanted.
- Trust and Believe your instincts. Stalking is a very harmful game and not a form of flattery. Take the necessary steps to protect yourself by using all available resources.
- Call Police, Neighborhood watch, Vigilante, "Amotekun" and what have you and report the incident as suspected stalking.
- Document — Keep records of stalking incidents (date, time, place, event and witnesses).
- Do not walk or ride alone. Call a friend or stay in the company of people you know and trust.
- Change your travel plans, places and routes frequently.
- Identify as much as you can about your stalker, such as descriptive data, physical features or social status.
- Save any evidence such as: notes, gifts, objects, photos, printed e-mail messages, voice messages.
- If you have been careless about leaving your contact details everywhere and anyhow. Make frantic effort to retrieve, if possible.
- Make sure your home is adequately safe and secure (doors, locks, windows, outside lighting, etc.).
