Rapist Arrested for Sexually Abusing A 21-year old
A 25-year old rapist, Mfoniso Essien of No.15 Iba Oku street, Uyo, has been arrested by detectives of the SCIID for gang raping a 21-year old female student in Uyo.
His gang member and accomplice in the crime, Frank Okon, is however at large but efforts are on to track him down.
The ugly incidence which happened a few weeks back, had the young lady gang raped by the two young men.
The case was brought to the notice of Family Empowerment and Youth Reorientation Path-initiative FEYReP who in partnership with International Federation of Women Lawyers FIDA, swung into action by alerting men of the Police force to arrest the culprits.
Currently cooling off his feet in the Police net, Mfoniso in his confession agreed to having committed the heinous crime, but said it was inspired by the devil.
One however wonders how the devil moved them to forcefully have carnal knowledge of a young girl.
Recall that the spike in rape cases across the country in recent times have sparked widespread protests with many calling for stringent punitive measures for culprits.
In Akwa Ibom, the women of the state have through the wife of Governor, Her Excellency Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel condemned the act in totality, calling for a state of emergency to address the ugly trend.
