A nineteen-year-old boy committed an abominable act when he pounced on a fragile gogo who was staying just two houses away from him.
It was in the early hours of the 17th of July when neighbors surrounded the gogo's house after hearing screams.
The residents were shocked that they got to him and by the time police came he was already bleeding.
He kept asking for forgiveness, insisting he was high on drugs. "How could he be high on drugs so early? I don't know what to call this!" One MaMkhize who was said to be close to the gogo complained.
The gogo would not speak as she was in a state of shock. The boy even attempted to run away before police arrived but he failed.
"I don't ever want to see him again. I feel so ashamed he is my brother! How will l face people around this community? What he did is unforgivable!" his sister whom he stayed with stated, citing that it was not the first time that he had gone to jail.
"Just a year back, he and his three other friends were arrested for breaking into people's homes. He did not even finish school! What am l going to do with him? I paid his fees though l am a vendor he does not appreciate my efforts. As long as he keeps the same company of friends he'll never take life seriously. Our mother must be turning in her grave" she said as she left the gathering looking distraught.
"Just a year ago, an 85-year-old granny was sexually assaulted nearby in the rural village of Mncadodo in KwaNzimakwe, right in her home. We now fear for our safety" one fellow granny said looking upset.
The police had to control the residents for continuously beating the teen up. His name was withheld.
